TEACHING

GCH 3303 – Introduction to Geochemistry

An introduction to the basic principles and fundamental concepts of inorganic geochemistry. The class emphasizes the association between chemistry and geology, and highlights the application of geochemistry in solving geological and environmental problems.

GCH 5405 – Inorganic Geochemistry

An introduction to the basic principles and fundamental concepts of inorganic geochemistry. The class emphasizes the usefulness and application of geochemistry in understanding, predicting and modeling chemical reactions that occur in many geologic processes. The course aims to provide the quantitative tools for solving geologic and environmental problems.

GEOL 3323 – Environmental Geology

Environmental geology is an applied science, examining the interaction between society and the physical environment. The course illustrates how knowledge of geologic processes and the physical constituents of the Earth are necessary to understand environmental problems. Furthermore, environmental geology plays a significant role in decision-making concerning the use of water, minerals, energy resources, and our response to and preparedness for natural hazards.
